TheAutoReply › Guides › Responding to reviews
How do you handle a threatening or abusive review?
Short answer
Don't engage with the abuse. Reply once, briefly and calmly if at all, then report the review — harassment, hate speech, and threats violate Google's policies and are removable.
Steps
- Flag and report it immediately as a policy violation.
- If you reply, keep it minimal and composed: "We don't tolerate this kind of exchange, but we're happy to help any genuine customer at [contact]."
- Document it (screenshots) in case it escalates or needs follow-up.
Never trade insults — it drags your profile down to the reviewer's level in front of everyone. Let the report and a calm one-liner do the work.
